Note
A plural that only the countable uses of analogy can take. When analogy names a particular comparison, it counts: one analogy, several analogies. When it names the general principle (reasoning from resemblance, or the pull of a language's regular patterns), it is uncountable and stays singular, as in the phrase by analogy. The spelling follows the usual consonant-plus-y rule: analogy becomes analogies.
