corrected
- 1Simple past and past participle of correct.
The editor corrected several errors before the article went to print.
All the typos have been corrected in the latest version of the manual.
Note
A regular past form, so one spelling serves both the simple past (she corrected the proofs) and the participle after have or be (the proofs have been corrected). Every meaning of the verb is transitive, which is why passives come so easily: errors are corrected, papers are corrected, and so is a mistaken speaker. Keep it apart from the adjective correct: correct means already right, corrected means set right after being wrong.
