differently
- 1In a manner that is not the same as another way of doing something.

The new manager runs the team quite differently from her predecessor.
Each region prepares the same dish differently, using local ingredients.
Oppositesimilarly, identically, alike
Note
A plain build of different and -ly, already formed this way in Middle English. The point of comparison usually follows with from: things turned out differently from what I'd envisaged. With feel it signals a change of opinion, as in Constance Garnett's 1912 translation of Dostoevsky's The Brothers Karamazov: "now that he's dead, I feel differently." Before a past participle it marks altered circumstances, as in differently situated.
