entries
- 1Plural of entry.
The dictionary added several hundred new entries this year.
Judges reviewed all the competition entries before choosing a winner.
Note
A regular plural, built the way English treats a consonant followed by -y: the y gives way to -ies, as in country and countries. The plural fits only the countable uses of entry, such as doorways, acts of entering, and the passageways between terraced houses in the Midlands. Permission to enter has no plural: a visitor is refused entry, never entries.
