evented
Sayi-VENT-id/ɪˈvɛntɪd/
- 1Simple past and past participle of event. Obsolete.
Note
A regular -ed form of a verb that has fallen out of use, though the noun beside it is thriving. The verb had three meanings: to occur, to be breathed out or evaporate, and, transitively, to expose to air. Only the last allows a passive, so a chamber that was evented had been aired out, while a plan that evented had simply come to pass. Today, happened or occurred does this work.
