faiths
FAYTHS/feɪθs/
- 1Plural of faith.
The conference brought together leaders from the world's major faiths.
Centuries of trade carried goods, languages, and faiths across the region.
Note
The plural does its real work in religion: faiths are belief systems counted side by side, as in the world's major faiths or people of all faiths. Faith in the sense of trust or conviction rarely takes an -s, because confidence in a friend is a quality one holds, not a set of separate things. The archaic adverb faith, meaning "truly," has no plural at all.
