gamed
- 1Simple past and past participle of game.
She gamed late into the night throughout the holidays.
Several sellers gamed the rating system to push their listings higher.
Note
One spelling does two jobs, as with any regular verb: the -ed ending serves the simple past (she gamed all weekend) and the participle (they have gamed for hours). The participle shows its range with the transitive meanings, above all exploiting a system's loopholes, which allow a passive: a system can be gamed. The intransitive senses, gambling or playing, take only have, never be.
The rankings had been gamed so thoroughly that nobody trusted them.
We have gamed together every Friday since college.
