ganged
- 1Simple past and past participle of gang.
The neighbors ganged up to oppose the new development.
The control dials were ganged so a single knob adjusted them all.
Note
One regular -ed form does double duty as past tense and participle, and the gang behind it decides what it can do. The Scottish and Northern English verb meaning "go" is intransitive, so its participle follows have and never forms a passive. The transitive sense, joining similar items into one unit, passes readily into the passive (the switches were ganged) and even into an adjective that compares: more ganged, most ganged.
