involving
- 1Present participle and gerund of involve.
The investigation involving several companies dragged on for two years.
Tasks involving close teamwork tend to build trust among coworkers.
Note
The -ing form does two different jobs. Placed after a noun, it shortens a relative clause: an investigation involving several companies is one that involves them, and there it usually means 'including' or 'entailing'. As a gerund it works like a noun and often takes a person as its object: avoid involving the police means avoid drawing them in. The spelling is the same, so only the sentence tells the two apart.
