Israelis
Sayiz-RAY-leez/ɪzˈɹeɪliːz/
- 1Plural of Israeli.
Thousands of Israelis gathered in the square to mark the anniversary.
The conference brought together Israelis and visitors from across the region.
Note
A regular plural with a plain -s, though only one of the singular's roles can take it. Israeli is also an adjective, and English adjectives never pluralize: a crowd of Israelis, but Israeli citizens, never "Israelis citizens." Its use as a name for modern Hebrew has no plural either, because that sense names a language, not people. When the word comes before a noun, drop the -s.
