jetted
SayJET-id/ˈd͡ʒɛtɪd/
- 1Simple past and past participle of jet.
The executives jetted between three countries in a single week.
Steam jetted from the cracked valve with a sharp hiss.
Note
A regular past form with one spelling quirk: the final t doubles before -ed. A single form serves both the simple past and the perfect (steam jetted; they have jetted home). It can be intransitive, when the liquid itself does the spraying, or transitive, when something is sprayed with it. The same spelling also carries the travel sense and the meaning of strutting with a haughty gait.
