mathed
SayMATHT/mæθt/
- 1Simple past and past participle of math. Informal.
We mathed the whole budget last night and still came up short.
I've mathed these figures three times and keep getting a different total.
Note
A regular past form, built on a verb that was itself made from the noun math, the clipped form of mathematics. One spelling covers both uses: we mathed it out, and, with have, we have mathed it out. The verb is informal throughout. In slang it can also mean 'added up' (the plan never mathed), so in formal writing reach for calculated or worked out instead.
