Note
A Greek compound that wears its meaning openly: misogunía, from miséō, "I hate," and gunḗ, "woman," which English splits as miso- + -gyny. It usually works as a mass noun and is often pinned on a particular person: his misogyny, a novelist's misogyny. The plural is rare and deliberate. Jonathan Franzen's The Corrections (2001) speaks of "this key to all misogynies," as if each were its own variety of the same hatred.
