NFTs
- 1Plural of NFT.
Collectors traded rare NFTs through a marketplace built on the blockchain.
The artist released a limited series of NFTs tied to her latest album.
Note
One spelling serves several unrelated initialisms. To collectors, NFTs are non-fungible tokens. In neuroscience they are neurofibrillary tangles, in software testing they are non-functional tests, and among growers they are systems using the Nutrient Film Technique. Only context tells them apart. The same letters also spell the verb for attaching a token, so "the studio NFTs" may be a noun phrase or the start of a sentence.
- 2Third-person singular simple present indicative of NFT.
The studio NFTs its concept art to raise money for new games.
Whenever he finishes a track, he NFTs it and offers it to fans directly.
Note
A recent coinage, and a transitive one: the studio always NFTs something, such as concept art, a track or a collection. Only the token meaning feeds the verb, so tangles, tests and nutrient films never become actions. Because it is still a neologism, it can feel like jargon in careful prose, where "associates it with an NFT" is the safer paraphrase.
