paged
- 1Simple past and past participle of page.
The receptionist paged the manager as soon as the delivery arrived.
Security staff are routinely paged whenever an alarm is triggered.
Note
A regular verb, so one form covers both the past (she paged him) and the participle after have or be (he had been paged). Reaching someone by pager is now a dated use. Before a noun the participle can blur with the adjective meaning "having pages": a paged manuscript may simply have pages, or may have had them numbered by someone.
- 2Having pages; made up of separate pages, as a book or printed document is.
The paged report was far easier to navigate than the continuous scroll.
Editors preferred the paged layout because readers could cite exact locations.
