pinged
SayPINGD/pɪŋd/
- 1Simple past and past participle of ping.
I pinged the server to check whether it was still online.
He pinged her on the team chat about the rescheduled meeting.
Note
A regular past form: ping simply adds -ed, and one spelling serves as both the simple past (she pinged the server) and the participle after have or in the passive (the host has been pinged). The passive suits the transitive uses, such as sending a signal, a packet or a message to someone. The colloquial bouncing sense is intransitive, so there the participle appears only with have: the ball had pinged off the post.
