pubbed
SayPUBD/pʌbd/
- 1Simple past and past participle of pub.
After the match, the whole team pubbed until closing time.
The story was pubbed in an online magazine before it became a book.
Note
Two quite different verbs share this spelling, and the grammar tells them apart. Without an object it means an evening spent going to pubs (we pubbed till closing); with an object, or in the passive, it means published (her story was pubbed last spring). The b doubles before -ed, as in rubbed, and both belong to casual talk rather than formal prose.
