Practice

  1. 1
    verb
Simple past and past participle of research.

The journalist researched the company's history for months before publishing.

Every claim in the book was meticulously researched.

    Note

One regular -ed form does both jobs: the plain past (she researched the topic) and the participle after have or in the passive (the topic has been researched). Used transitively it takes its object directly; used intransitively it usually wants into, as in researched into local records. The same spelling also carries the rarer meaning 'searched again', so researched the room can, in context, mean a second search rather than a study.
