She said the old photographs were stored somewheres in the spare room.

Note
Writers use it to give a character a loose, spoken voice. In Nintendo of America's 2004 translation of Paper Mario, a puzzled speaker mutters that the thing has "gotta be around here somewheres," next to lemme and gotta. The same caution about formal writing applies as for the adjective use. It goes wherever somewhere would, often at the end of a clause after a place phrase like around here.
- 2Located at some place that is not specified or not exactly known.
The missing crate turned out to be somewheres behind the loading dock.
His hometown is somewheres out past the state line, he never says exactly where.
Note
A nonstandard form that belongs to casual speech rather than edited prose. In formal writing, plain somewhere is the safe choice. It sits in the predicate, after a verb like be: the crate is somewheres behind the dock. Like somewhere itself, it cannot be compared, so nothing is more somewheres than something else. The final -s adds no meaning; it marks the speaker's voice, not a different place.
- 3Plural of somewhere.
Their travels carried them to remote somewheres far from any city.
The novel is full of forgotten somewheres where its characters drift and disappear.
Note
Here the -s is a true plural, not the nonstandard ending of the colloquial adverb. It takes adjectives and articles like any count noun: remote somewheres, the forgotten somewheres of a novel. The noun behind it can also name a person with strong ties to a particular place, so the plural can mean such people as well as places. Context tells the reader which one is meant.
