students
- 1Plural of student.
Most of the students passed the final exam on their first attempt.
The professor invited several students to present their research at the conference.
Note
A regular plural, built with -s, and it takes plural agreement: these students were, never this students was. It carries every meaning of the singular, from anyone who studies a subject to someone formally enrolled. That includes the narrower use that sets university students apart from pupils at a primary or secondary school. The adjective clipped from Student's has no plural, so students is always the noun.
