switched
SaySWICHT/swɪt͡ʃt/
- 1Simple past and past participle of switch.
He switched to a cheaper phone plan last month.
The meeting was switched to a later time without warning.
Note
A regular past form that does double duty: one spelling serves as the simple past and, after have or be, as the participle. Only the transitive uses can go passive, so a light, a seat or a horse can be switched. The intransitive ones take have alone, as in they had switched places. The slang sense of a sudden temper, as in he just switched, never goes passive.
