tweeted
SayTWEET-idUS/ˈtwitɪd/UK/ˈtwiːtɪd/
- 1Simple past and past participle of tweet.
The sparrow tweeted cheerfully outside the window all morning.
The senator tweeted an apology shortly after the controversy broke.
Note
One regular -ed form does double duty: the same spelling covers the simple past (she tweeted) and the perfect (she has tweeted). Only the posting meaning, which can take an object, also allows the passive: an apology was tweeted. The bird's call takes no object, so a sparrow tweets but nothing is tweeted by it. When the post is tied to Twitter by name, the verb is sometimes capitalized: Tweeted.
