weekdays
- 1Plural of weekday.
She schedules all of her meetings on weekdays.
Traffic is heaviest on weekdays during the morning rush hour.
Note
Which days count depends on whose week it is. Most usage means Monday through Friday. In Vietnam, Saturday is a working weekday too. Jewish usage counts Sunday through Friday and leaves out Saturday, and another reckoning drops Friday instead. An archaic use took in every day of the week. When the exact days matter, as in a timetable or a contract, it is safer to name them.
- 2On the days from Monday through Friday, rather than on weekends.
Buses run more frequently weekdays than they do on weekends.
The pool is reserved for lap swimmers weekdays before nine in the morning.

Note
Here the plural noun does an adverb's work, with the preposition simply dropped: "open weekdays" means the same as "open on weekdays." It is not comparable, so nothing is ever done "more weekdays." It usually comes after the verb or at the end of a clause, and it inherits the question of which days are meant from the plural noun.
