globing
SayGLOHB-ingUS/ˈɡloʊbɪŋ/UK/ˈɡləʊbɪŋ/
- 1Present participle of globe.
Note
A form that does double duty, because the verb behind it does too: globe can mean "become spherical" or "make spherical." Without an object, the thing is rounding itself (dew globing on a web); with one, someone does the rounding (globing the softened glass). The silent e of globe drops before -ing, and in noun position the same form works as a gerund: the globing of the droplets.
The glassblower kept globing the softened tip with quick turns of the pipe.
The slow globing of the solder told her the joint was hot enough.
