listed
- 1Simple past and past participle of list.
The report listed all the safety problems found during the inspection.
Each name was listed in alphabetical order.
Note
A regular past form that does double duty: she listed the faults (simple past), the faults have been listed (perfect), the faults were listed (passive). The passive easily hardens into the adjective "on a list", as in a listed number. Not every listed means enumerated. The same spelling serves the verbs for edging cloth with strips, ploughing with a lister, and, in the Southern US, bedding land for cotton.
- 2Recorded or entered on a list, especially an official one.
Their address is listed in the city's public registry.
Only listed charities qualified for the tax exemption.

- 4Of a building, placed on an official register of places with special architectural or historical interest, so that demolishing or altering it is restricted.

Note
A British planning term, used of buildings and other structures rather than of people or companies. Its natural partner is building: a town can boast 600-odd listed buildings, and Birmingham Town Hall is one of them. The label has practical weight, because it restricts what may be attached to the fabric. Battery-powered trams were chosen partly so that no overhead infrastructure had to be fixed to listed buildings along the route.
